St. Flannan's Cell and Flannan Isles Lighthouse Here is the source of one of the world's great mysteries for at the turn of the century three lightkeepers disappeared without trace.

Greetings ~

A lone island. A remote lighthouse. Three experienced lighthouse keepers. Now abandoned. No one to be found. It was Scotland. Scotland is a country of mystery and this was a real mystery in 1900.
Three lighthouse keepers were gone without a trace. Losing one was bad enough but could be expected for the conditions at the island. Freak storms, wild weather. Losing two was abnormal and losing three nearly impossible. But it happened. Was it the weather, storms, a sea monster, a ghost ship, a murder/suicide, abandonment or an alien abduction? We will most likely never know.
The lighthouse is still in operation today. However, in modern times it is fully automated so there's no need for a keeper. The island can be mysterious and this mystery from December 1900 proves it.
This blog is dedicated to the three keepers at Flannan Island who's job it was to keep the lamp lit.
